Time to make a film

The year 3 were introduced to the skills needed to make a film. The first day was a ‘getting used to’ session, working out how to use the cameras, tripods and software. A lot of time was spent looking at how different angles can change a film – some experimental learning!

The first day was filming two areas in the school, trying to promote and give information to potential new parents. The second day was a direct Literacy link. The children had to invent a new product, create the packaging, write their persuasive script, then film and edit the advert. All in one day! Some of the results were fantastic, with products ranging from toothpaste, cat treats right though to mini gaming machines.

On the buses!

What an exciting couple of days we all had! On the number 83 bus down to the Botanical Gardens to take lots of fantastic pictures of plants, trees, the odd waterfall and a squirrel that was happy to pose! We are going to manipulate the photographs, paying close attention to colour and use some of them to make fantastic Photo Stories!

Photography

18th March

Two classes buzzing at the sight of Digital Cameras! We posed the question ‘How do you take a good photo?’ The results were outstanding!

We also looked at using Comic Life, the skills needed, the funky styles we can use to make them look brilliant! Looking forward to tomorrow, we are posing for pictures ready to make a Pompeii comic – should be an explosive day!!

Animating the adventure!

Monday 8th March

The day was spent with two of the classes giving the key skills needed to animate. Lots of great team work, patient work and smiles! Children didn’t need to think too hard about the content of the story, just worked hard on how to move the characters etc to make excellent animations.

Tuesday 9th

The children have planned out some exciting adventure stories to turn into animation blockbusters! Fabulous backgrounds and characters made for a super day with some excellent end results.

Thursday 11th/Monday 15th

Same process with the remaining year 3 class.

It’s time for Year 3

Moving down a few Years to see if the Year 3 children can match the skills and enthusiasm we found in Year 6.

First input session is animation using the Digital Blue cameras.

Animation Time

March 1st and 2nd

It’s time to animate! A day learning the skills and techniques, two groups using Digital Movie Creator, one Monkey Jamming!

Some brilliant backgrounds have been created and Play Mobil characters adapted to fit the Sikh stories we are retelling.

Some superb team work again, great energy and super end results – fantastic end to the Year 6 element of the Creative Partnership. A massive well done and thanks to all the children and staff.

Some very good skills developed over this section of the project and some very positive attitudes.

Buxton Project

The children have a mass of video and photographs from their recent trip to Buxton. Working in groups, they have been tasked to promote Buxton through the use of digital media. Working hard on brochures, promotional videos, photo stories and comic strips! Children worked with Pete to produce links to go into their TV shows!
